I could not agree more with Cavuto on this.
The crowd cheering and jumping to their feet is ridiculous and concerning. The issue that John King raised at the beginning of the debate does matter and so does the character of our politicians, republican or democrat. Whether or not this specific issue is a “he said - she said,” Newt Gingrich’s past is well documented, and like it or not, past behaivor is the best predictor of future behavior.
I don’t care what Newt’s daughters told ABC, I care what the possible future leader of the free world says on an issue he is being accused of doing. America is in desperate need of a leader that we can look to, and think “wow, that’s a person of integrity.”—a true role model. Someone who, whether we agree with them or not, know they believe what they are doing is the right thing to do, because they walk their talk.
Enough with the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ hypocrites. There are 300 million Americans on this planet, and I don’t know a soul who has a past remotely as terrible as Newt Gingrich’s. I believe in forgiveness, I believe in redemption, and I’m not judging the man’s heart, but just because you had a turning point doesn’t make you a suitable candidate for President of the United States of America.
This is the United States of America people! We have 300 million people do choose from… And Newt Gingrich is getting 40% of the vote from the “party of family values,” in the Bible belt?!!? If we want to continue to be the best, we can’t have anything less than great leadership—raise your standards, it’s embarrassing.
